I have no idea what to do next art-wise, so I'm asking for a bit of inspiration to spark a few ideas. Just to give some context as to what I'm looking for, I'll post my DA page soon and what I'd like:

-I've been looking into spriting lately, so if there's any tutorials, that'd be great.
-Also maybe some easy characters to sprite.
-I do some pseudo-cel shading type work, so images that might be good for that would be great.

Thank you all in advance!

for sprites, browse Sprites Database and start out with simple
recolors via paint before you get into serious editing. Pixels are
important friends in paint.

As for Art (In general), I tend to use my characters as muses for
whatever I am currently interested in. For example, you could draw a pic
based off a holiday using one of your characters. Or pic
an emotion/mood as your base and use something to display it.

best of luck to ya~

Ummm, would you suggest using Photoshop for spriting? Just because I've heard of people using paint before...

Thanks for the ideas, I'll get on it! I owe you one, Inari!

Photoshop isn't for spriting. You kinda have to use paint Razz

Photoshop is not kind for sprites due to their tiny pixels. A 1pt brush
in photoshop is about 4 pixels however they are varying in color.

The pencil tool in photoshop (set on 1 pt) may be able to be used
for spiriting I believe, but I would not recommend photoshop for it
at all.

I say paint is the only way to really go and be safe.

Always a pleasure to help, ^^

All right, I was just worried about the colors available in paint. As soon as I finish up, I'll be sure to post something! Thanks again!

You do know that if you double-click the colours, you can choose new ones?

It's a remarkable opportunity really. On discovering this for myself, I remember being filled with a sense of amazement and wonder, I couldn't sleep for days! >.> Just kidding.

Seriously, double-click the colours xD

Yeah, I feel stupid now... I guess I just assumed that Paint was Photoshop for poor people and I didn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. It seems a lot more advanced than I expected now...

Aye, I use only paint for my sprites and I am more or less starting to reach the hall of motherfucking fame by starting to be more and more able to actually make Pokémon level sprites Surprised Paintbuckets for all!

You should also search for something like "paint tricks" or something like that on Youtube, there are a few hidden tricks you can do which might just make spriting a tad bit easier too.

like if you have a mouse with a wheel, middle clicking a color will give you a third color without having to switch out so much.

So much to do, so little computer time... I've been doing more sketching by hand lately and I still suck at that...

yeah, at some point I'll post some stuff by hand, but I'm still to busy to get spriting stuff dealt with... Y'all had your midterms and mine are next week, so it might be a while.
